Swaim has been making handcrafted furniture since 1945. For three generations, the Swaim family has acted as custodians of this treasured family legacy of making the highest quality furniture available. Sisters, Rhonda and Rina Swaim, have carried on the traditions taught by their father and before him their grandfather. Traditions rich in authenticity, artistry and quality making Swaim the choice for designers all over the world.
For the last 80 years, Swaim has only been available through select high end furniture stores and top designers. That is until now. By making certain curated pieces available direct from our factory to your home, we are able to offer you something like never before. While there are many companies out there that sell affordable furniture that looks good, unless you grew up in the business, it is hard to distinguish between something that looks good and something that is good. Swaim is not just good, it’s the highest quality furniture you can buy.
Our Story
“My goal with Swaim Studio is simple: make high quality furniture obtainable to anyone who wants to invest in their future. Younger generations replace their furniture every few years, because what they bought isn’t lasting. It looked great when they bought it, but overtime, the cushions break down, the foam begins to disintegrate, joints become loose, it is money wasted and into the landfill it goes. This shouldn’t happen, it is bad for the environment and bad for quality furniture manufacturers. Our Philisophy
It is easy to have other people make the product for you or to import it at a fraction of the cost, but that’s not who we are. Despite the challenges of higher labor cost, the time intensive process of making each individual piece, Swaim made the conscientious decision to keep all the manufacturing right here in High Point, North Carolina. While most eCommerce furniture companies have someone else make the product for them, we believe that only Swaim can make Swaim products. For us, it is imperative that we stay true to who we are. When you buy a piece of Swaim, you are buying a piece of furniture that was made by us for you. There is no mass production here.
